Scomparsa S.A.R il Principe Filippo, Duca di Edimburgo – Comunicato del nostro Presidente, Simone Balestrini

La scomparsa di SAR Il Principe Filippo, Duca di Edimburgo, avvenuta il 9 aprile, ha portato tutti noi a ricordare e riflettere  sulla lunga vita e sui ruoli ricoperti dal Principe nel corso di essa.

Citando il Duca di Cambridge, il Principe Filippo “ è stato un uomo straordinario e parte di una straordinaria  generazione”. Forse è questa la frase che riassume meglio i sentimenti di rispetto e il ricordo manifestati  per SAR in questi giorni.

Evidente, per noi giovani monarchici, è stata grande la mancanza di figure simili in un sistema repubblicano  e ci siamo resi conto, specialmente in questa occasione, del profondo legame che i popoli retti da una  monarchia vivono con le istituzioni, in particolare con la Famiglia Reale. Una differenza sostanziale che ci ha  fatto percepire un senso di vuoto e smarrimento. Quanto sarebbe emozionante poter vivere anche in Italia, con così tanta vicinanza, ammirazione, famigliarità e alto rispetto, il rapporto con la figura del Capo dello  Stato.

E’ stato significativo e commovente leggere nella scorsa settimana i numerosi messaggi, gli articoli di  giornale e i ricordi di chi ha conosciuto SAR provenienti da tutto il mondo, sintomo di come la figura del  Principe sia diventata nel tempo riferimento e prestigio internazionale.

Guardiamo con ammirazione la storia personale del Principe e il suo importante ed esemplare servizio reso  alla Nazione in modi differenti.

Nato quasi 100 anni fa come Principe di Grecia e Danimarca, il Principe Filippo divenne un profondo patriota britannico. Dal 1939 al 1952 fu membro delle Forze Armate e combattè nella Seconda Guerra Mondiale: nel 1942, a soli 21 anni partecipò anche alle operazioni di liberazione dell’Italia.

Dal 1947 sposo e poi dal 1952 Principe Consorte di SM la Regina, divenne forza preziosa e fondamentale  per consentire ad Elisabetta II di portare la Corona. Lunghi anni caratterizzati non dallo svolgimento di un  lavoro, bensì di un dovere.

Grande modernizzatore della monarchia, regista delle questioni famigliari, promotore delle tecnologie, sostenitore delle future generazioni e patrono di oltre 800 associazioni e fondazioni, Il Duca di Edimburgo anticipò di anni i temi di salvaguardia e difesa ambientale.

Principe nobilissimo di tempi passati, gentleman d’eccellenza e sportivo avventuriero, che ispirerà ancora in  futuro, per lo stile unico, la brillante personalità e il grande senso di servizio e dovere.

Ora, le nostre più affettuose condoglianze giungano a Sua Maestà la Regina e agli altri membri della Famiglia Reale.

La nostra vicinanza al popolo britannico e del Commonwealth per la perdita di una figura così significativa  nell’identità storica e istituzionale.

The passing of HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh on April 9 has brought us all to remember and reflect on his long life and the roles the Prince has played throughout it.

Quoting the Duke of Cambridge, Prince Philip “was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation.” Perhaps this is the sentence that best summarises the feelings of respect and the memory of HRH in these days.

Evidently, for us Giovani Monarchici, the lack of such figures in a Republican system has been great and we have realised, especially on this occasion, the profound connection between the people who live in a monarchy and the institutions, especially with the Royal Family. A fundamental difference that has made us feel a sense of emptiness and loss. How exciting it would be to be able to live in Italy too, with so much closeness, admiration, familiarity and high respect, the relationship with the figure of the Head of State.

It was significant and moving to read last week, the numerous messages, newspaper articles and memories of those who met HRH from all over the world, a symptom of how the figure of the Prince has become internationally more and more prestigious and a reference for many over time.

We look with admiration at the personal history of the Prince and his important and exemplary service to the Nation in different ways.

Born almost 100 years ago as the Prince of Greece and Denmark, Prince Philip became a profound British patriot. From 1939 to 1952 he was a member of the Armed Forces and fought in World War II: in 1942, at the age of 21, he also participated in the liberation operations of Italy.

Husband since 1947, and then since 1952 Prince Consort of HM The Queen, Prince Philip became a precious and fundamental force for Elizabeth II to bear the Crown. Long years marked not by a job, but by a duty.

A great moderniser of the monarchy, director in family affairs, promoter of technology, supporter of future generations and patron of more than 800 associations and foundations, The Duke of Edinburgh anticipated by years the issues of environmental protection and defence.

Noble Prince of old times, gentleman of excellence and sporty adventurer, who will still inspire in the future for his unique style, brilliant personality and great sense of service and duty.

May our most affectionate condolences reach Her Majesty The Queen and the other Members of the Royal Family.

We express our closeness to the British and Commonwealth people for the loss of such a significant figure in historical and institutional identity.
